Your safety when you're driving your car is reliant upon a variety of different parts and factors. There are many things that can go wrong but if your car is maintained properly, you shouldn't have too much to worry about.
Your car's brakes are one of the most important parts of the car that ensure your safety. If you brakes aren't maintained properly, you could find yourself barreling down the road in a heavy piece of dangerous equipment with malfunctioning or poorly functioning brakes.
Your brakes need maintenance!
Your brakes are a part of a system. When you hit your brake pedal it activates a brake booster, which pushed brake fluid through a line to your brakes. This activates the actual stopping mechanism that includes calipers that press down brake pads on the brake rotors. The rotor is part of the wheel hub and stops the wheels from turning. Another word for rotor is "disc," which is why brake with rotors are called disc brakes. Because brake pads (or shoes) are experiencing constant friction, they tend to wear down over time. They should be replaced on a consistent basis.
